River Edge is a small town located in Bergen County, New Jersey. River Edge is located alongside the Hackensack River. The borough of River Edge is 1.88 total square miles. The borough consists of 1.83 square miles of land and .05 square miles of water. River Edge has an altitude of 161 feet/49 meters.
River Edge is approximately 8 miles west of Upper Manhattan, making River Edge a suburb of New York City. River Edge has two unincorporated communities located within it. The two unincorporated towns are Cherry Hill and North Hackensack. River Edge has five neighboring towns that include: Hackensack, New Milford, Oradell, Paramus, and Teaneck.
