Overview:
The PIP Arbitration Jr. Attorney will work closely with an experienced PIP attorney to provide assistance with the caseload. They will assist with the responsibility of PIP arbitrations from the time of the submission through the conclusion of the arbitration. The Jr. Attorney will learn to prepare their own submissions and appropriately respond to the Respondentâs defenses. The Jr. Attorney may also be responsible for the settlement of PIP arbitrations and arguing the arbitration at the time of the hearing.
Responsibilities:
ArbitrationsÂ
- Review and updating of fee schedule for accuracyÂ
- Preparation of pre-hearing and OTP submissionsÂ
- Performance of arbitration hearingÂ
- Preparation of post-hearing submissionsÂ
- Preparation of Requests for Modification/Clarification and AppealsÂ
- Processing of adjournments and consolidations as necessaryÂ
- Request and obtain additional supportive medical records as neededÂ
SettlementsÂ
- Prepare / review fee schedule for accuracyÂ
- Review / present settlement offerÂ
- Negotiate potential settlement with insurance company or attorneyÂ
- Obtain authorization as necessary from medical providerÂ
- Complete closing paperwork for settlementÂ
Withdrawal RequestsÂ
- Review and determine if withdrawal is necessaryÂ
- Complete closing paperwork for withdrawalÂ
Qualifications:
- Licensed and in good standing with the NJ & NY Bar.
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law schoolÂ
- Ability to learn to properly update the fee schedule breakdowns of all medical specialties in accordance with the New Jersey Fee Schedule and corresponding regulations (MRI, chiropractic, physical therapy, acupuncture, orthopedic, neurologic, pain management, surgery, ASC, hospital, etc.)Â
- Ability to learn to independently prepare all submissions and argue arbitration hearings based upon defenses submitted, including preparation of digital exhibitsÂ
- Ability to learn to negotiate settlements with insurance adjusters and adversariesÂ
- PIP arbitration experience and ability to summarize medical records is not required, but is a plus.
Compensation: The base salary or hourly range for this position will be determined during the interview process and will vary based on multiple factors, including but not limited to; prior relevant experience, business needs and market factors. Additionally, salary wages are only part of the total compensation package.
